陶瓷资料：Carol M. Jantzen一个时光倒流的女人
摘要：Had a fortuneteller predicted that a young Carol M. Jantzen would someday have a solid, world-recognized reputation as a scientist who develops specialty ceramics (glasses, cements and multiphase ceramics) to safely dispose of nuclear and/or hazardous wastes, it most likely would not have been believed. "At one time, I wanted to be a vet," she said. "Now, I breed Labrador retrievers from Scotland as a hobby." Nonetheless, she has accomplished much within the nuclear industry, especially in terms of disposing of defense waste generated during World War II and the Cold War into glass. Currently an advisory scientist at the Savannah River Technology Center at the Westinghouse Savannah River Site, Aiken, S.C., Jantzen has numerous areas of responsibility. These include research and development in glasses, ceramics, cements, metals and their performance in underground geologic repositories and/or in shallow land disposal.
